We are often asked how to care for the balls we sell. Important information to get the most out of your purchase.
- How to use the Glycerine.
- How much force is required to insert the needle.
- What ball pressure to inflate to.
- Will spit be enough to moisten the needle.
Mikasa have produced a helpful guide to show how to lubricate and insert the needle into the Mikasa ball. One important fact is to use a thin needle ideally 2mm or less on Mikasa balls as the valve tends to be smaller than other types of balls.
- Please always moisten the inflating needle with glycerine before inserting into the valve. Inserting a dry needle or one covered in spit can cause air leakage and potential damage to the bladder or valve. Spit is known to be abrasive and can cause damage to the ball.
- Insert the moistened needle by turning it clockwise into the valve and when inflated withdraw in the same direction.
- If the air temperature is cold or the ball has been stored in a cold area please bring back to room temperature, i.e. minimum 8°C. Loosen or manipulate the ball before inflating and then slowly inflate the ball. Do not force large amounts of air into the ball in one go as it may cause the ball to burst.
- Note the air pressure guide lines printed on the ball and adjust as necessary by releasing any excess air with the use of a pressure gauge.
