As we head into the early throws of Summer, we can't help but get excited about the vast amount of sport to watch live in person and on television. We are still staggered that Leicester City actually completed their goal and won the Premiership title and can't wait for the new season to start. What would be an acceptable target for Leicester City for season 2016/17? They have Champions League football for the first time and we don't imagine they will have the largest of squads available to them. Sure they will invest some of the huge sums of money that will come to them from endorsements and lucrative sponsorship deals. However it is impossible not to assume that the main playing squad would all be looking to renegotiate their contracts to befit that of Premiership champions. That could be costly. The club could well be side tracked by the Champions League and not fully focus on the defence of their league title, a huge challenge for Claudio Ranieri who actually says 'Leicester's challenge will be to stay in the Premiership next season'. Other Premiership clubs have invested hugely in new management, ahead of what promises to be an expensive summer transfer window as they all look to boost their squads. The new managers at this time in the Premiership for the 2016/17 season are as follows
  • Man City - Pep Guardiola
  • Chelsea - Antonio Conte
  • Everton - Still to be announce at this time (Frank de Boar is our selection)
  • Man Utd - Expected to be Jose Mourinho
  • Watford - Walter Mazzarri
Arsene Wenger will be under intense scrutiny early season as will Jurgen Klopp who will start his first full season at Liverpool. Not only do we have that to look forward to but there are the Euro's in France, the Olympics and Paralympic games in Brazil, The Champions Trophy at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in June, The Ryder Cup in Minnesota - US, Wimbledon with more Brits in the top 200 it promises a lot more than most years, we also have an Autumn program of international rugby in League and Union and the Americas Cup World Series comes to Portsmouth in July plus many many more.
